Also known as: Weak AI, Task-Specific AI

Definition: AI specialized in a single task. Can’t perform outside its scope.

Examples: ChatGPT, Google Translate, Netflix Recs, Image Classifiers

Status: In active use (most AI today)

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

Also known as: Strong AI, Human-Level AI

Definition: Can learn, understand, and apply knowledge like humans.

Goal: Abstract thinking, reasoning, multi-domain learning

Status: Still theoretical

Artificial Superintelligence (ASI)

Definition: Surpasses human intelligence in all dimensions.

Potential: Solve global challenges or pose existential risks

Status: Hypothetical / futuristic

Reactive Machines

Definition: Reacts to inputs without memory.

Examples: IBM Deep Blue (Chess)

Limited Memory

Definition: Uses short-term memory for decisions.

Examples: Self-driving cars (sensor data)

Theory of Mind (In Progress)

Definition: AI that understands emotions and beliefs.

Goal: Social interaction and empathy

Status: Under research

Self-aware AI

Definition: AI with its own consciousness and emotions.

Status: Not yet developed
